GuiPod by bzeitler  0

Introduction
After seeing the new WindowBlinds port of GuiPod, I remembered the time I had spent using the theme a year or so ago and thought why not, I’ll give it another try. I’ll be reviewing the WindowBlinds port of this theme, but there is also an MsStyle release (see the link at the bottom of the review). GuiPod is a play on the standard Aqua theme, and seems to be a cross between the navigational system of an iPod, and Milk. An interesting combination indeed, and although the theme has it’s flaws, it certainly is a worthy addition to any collection…

Actor Christopher Reeve has died after going into a coma at his New York home, his publicist Wesley Combs has said.

The 52-year-old had been suffering from an infection as a result of a pressure wound and died on Sunday, Mr Combs told the Associated Press news agency.

Reeve, who became famous for starring in the Superman films in the 1970s and 80s, was paralysed in a riding accident nine years ago.

He had become an advocate for spinal cord injury research.

SIRO by DSKY  0

Introduction
At a first glance, you may dismiss SIRO as a theme which isn’t close enough to the Aqua theme to suit you. However, given a closer look the theme really grows on you and the combination of subtle greys and the turquoise blue highlighting combines to create a uniquely compelling effect. SIRO is, as many themes are, ported across from the original created for Max OSX. An added plus for SIRO is that it is currently available as both a Windowblinds theme, and an MsStyle. Whether it’s a theme which you will you will use for months to come is a decision you’ll have to make for yourself. Read on for the rest of the review…

Google Face Wealthy Walkout  0

Post Categories   Post Time 3 years, 10 months ago

After completing a successful public offering, Google now faces a potential problem: about 60% of its 1,900 employees now have over US$1 million in share options, with some longer-term employees (400-500 of them) having in excess of $5 million worth of shares. The problem Google has to overcome is keeping these newly wealthy staff members from leaving the company.

Giving employees such wealth means they may choose to take their life in a different direction and away from the company, e.g., going back into education, working for themselves, or taking early retirement. Others may leave because their major reason for working–creating wealth and a healthy nest-egg for retirement–has been completed and they are free to do what they like.

Google isn’t your average company, though, and it already offers great employee perks that it has vowed to make even better. The upside to staying is that Google shares have not reached their peak yet according to Morgan Stanley; that peak will come within months, giving employees who are considering leaving a reason to stay.

Time to dump IE?  0

Post Categories   Post Time 3 years, 10 months ago

I already have :), but this is an interesting article:

Internet Explorer is the Swiss Cheese of software - it’s full of holes. Holes in software are never good, but when the browser is so integrated with the OS as to be as one - you’ve got problems. Add to that the sheer ubiquity of the Microsoft browser, and it’s no wonder IE has become the hackers’ No. 1 playground.

Now we’re beset by increasingly common - and dangerous - security vulnerabilities. We knew IE was integrated with Windows, but we didn’t have any idea how integrated it was. Even Microsoft doesn’t seem to have a firm grasp on IE’s internals, judging from the weeks it took to deliver an actual fix for the recent Download.Ject Trojan.
