Microsoft Spyware Tool
It seems that with Microsoft’s (more and more successful) push to take over the desktop, they are now moving into the security sector more and more. This isn’t surprising, after the latest version of Windows XP (Service Pack 2) integrated a new level of security features and pushes for you to install Firewall and AntiVirus software.
Obviously, on the one hand, it is good that Microsoft are starting to introduce software applications such as this into the market. It means that people may start to take note of how important security is on your computer, and how simply it is to maintain a good quality, well grounded set of security applications.
However, the fact that it is a Microsoft application (don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Microsoft) means that it will be targeted heavily by virus writers and spyware creators alike. I’m sure we will see the ever apparent process of a large flaw being exploited, then a patch being released, then a large flaw being exploited…. you see where I’m going.
