Coming at the Expo
First of all, I’m looking forward to the new flash based iPods. Apparently coming in 1gb and 2gb sizes, they will extend Apple’s coverage of that market all the way. They will probably not contain the standard iPod clickwheel, but may employ a different technique for moving around your music. And they are going to be small. I expect, very small.
Apple may also increase the size of the iPod mini to 5gb at the expo, which would most likely infuriate anyone who has bought one recently (as is always the case with these new releases). It could be well over a month before either of these are available though (and even then, that will be in the USA).
The small, sub $500 mac will be announced at the Expo, which is great news for people like myself who would like a simple machine to aid in converting over from a PC. I can’t afford to splash out on an iMac of G5 straight away. iLife ‘05 will be introduced, with a couple of new features such as a ‘Pages’ application, a simple word processor. A new loop pack for Garageband will also be announced.
