I need a Web Editor
Now then, a plea for help
I’ve just moved from Windows to Mac (as most of you know), and I really don’t like the way Dreamweaver works on the Mac. I’ve used it for web editing for years, and until now it has satisfied my needs.
What I’m looking for is an editor which handles XHTML and CSS well, provides colour coding and preferably hints to help writing code quickly.
Can anyone suggest an OSX application? (Preferably free… :))

As a general text editor, I highly recommend the brilliant SubEthaEdit. Does colour coding and more, is free, looks good, and even supports Rendezvous, so that multiple people can work on the same document at the same time!

I think I’ve pretty much tried them all, and come back around to dreamweaver. No other coding environment has support for code-hinting and coloring accross as many languages as Dreamweaver. You could try SKEDIT, it’s definitely moving in the right direction: http://www.skti.org/skEdit.php

I think that could be the case for me in the end. I did some web design work in all the suggested today, working on a new design for Crossley Heath School. I still found Dreamweaver to be the best, despite it’s niggles.
Is there any way to make it revert to a tabbed layout in OSX? - I really like that in the Windows version.
