Canon Pixma MP110 wth OSX

I bought a Canon Pixma MP110 today - It’s an all-in-one printer/scanner/copier etc. It was given a really good review in a recent copy of MacWorld, so I decided that it would be a good investment. It has a more expensive brother - the MP130 - which has the advantage of an in-built card reader (something I’ll never use).

So far so good. The software for the Mac is good - not too intrusive. It’s very easy to produce borderless prints, copy documents and scan things. The speed of printing is also very good, much faster than my old HP printer. I’ve sourced some really cheap 6×4 photo paper on eBay, so that should enable me to make some cost-effective photo prints. The cartridges for the MP110 are also relatively inexpensive - between £6 and £11 for the genuine ones from Canon.

My experience of using printers with Apple rather than Windows has been a positive one. OSX has some great functionality built into it for managing ink levels, keeping track of a print cue etc. I remember the old days on XP when clicking ‘cancel job’ did absolutely nothing. The damn thing just kept on printing…

Yeah I too remember those days when windows doesnt do diddly squat.. and it still does come to think of it. The more you press cancel print the more it does nothing… mmm can’t wait to get a mac.

Pretty cool AIO though. Curious, where do you get all your images? I love all of the isolated shots.. actually speaking of images, can you please start posting with direct links to the images instead of the remote links because my RSS reader (and most) always show up with dead images because they are remote locations instead of the whole URL.

I generally get my isolated images from the manufacturer’s website, or a review from another site. I do sometimes take them myself, but generally that’s not the case.

There are two reasons why I don’t want to use a full path to images:

    1) If I ever change my URL, that’s a lot of posts to edit

    2) It means that images aren’t cached, eating up more bandwidth

    Sorry!

I bought the mp110 too. There is a small paper holder for paper feeding at the back. This paper holder is actuall extendable in mp130. Now, I use this small paper holder which is irritating. If I wouldhave know this I would buy mp130 instead of mp110.

Another irritation with my mp110 is the scan table need to be opened until it locks for ink changing. But when closing, it doesn’t close easily. I don’t know canon screwed up this basic convenient things.

The software bundle is quite good.
