I bought one of these yesterday, in preparation for the long journey to Canada next week. Seems to work fine, and it’s a bargain at only £13.

New Wine Thoughts  1

New Wine Shepton Mallet 2005

It’s been an absolutely fantastic week, and I feel incredibly fired up. It’s so amazing to spend 7 days around loads of other Christians, in a great setting. The weather stayed more or less fine for the whole week (the odd shower at night), and we didn’t have any problems with the tents of camping. There were about 10 of us there in total, and we met up with loads of new people at the conference itself.

The journey down there was a bit of a nightmare, hitting lots of traffic to make it something like a 7 hour drive. We set everything up fairly quickly though - didn’t have any problems. The youth worship/conferences were done in a huge barn (something like 1500-2000 people in there every meeting). The worship bands were absolutely fantastic - they played some amazing music.

I went to quite a few conferences. One was an interesting discussion about Christianity and the creative arts (I suppose I’d put myself in that category as a designer). It was interesting to see how things are progressing in that area. I also went to a seminar on Sexual Integrity, which was really interesting. The social venues in there were brilliant as well, ranging from chilled out cafe’s, to a great skate park. The sheer number of people there was mind blowing.

One evening I saw David and Carrie Grant (you know, that red haired girl - the ones who judge Fame Academy) speaking about their walk with Christ, and how they have put faith in God throughout their lives. It’s amazing to hear what they went through before being given the chance to work on TV and really make it big. I just missed Matt Redman speaking one evening, which was a bit of a shame!

I always leave events such as this on a massive high. I feel fired up for Jesus, and passionate about my faith. I really hope and pray that I can bring everything I’ve learned into my day to day life. I’ve seen miracles take place - two close friends became Christians last week. Another friend had his wrist healed which had been nagging him for months. I’ve also chatted to a mate about setting up a new online Christian arts project. It’s something we plan to work on over the next 6 months or so - expect some quality CSS design!

God’s amazing.

New Wine 2005  1

Post Categories   Post Time 3 years ago

I’m off next week, to a huge Ciristian event called New Wine in Shepton Mallet. Plenty of live music, good speakers and a great change to spend a week with some good friends. I hope the weather will stay sunny and dry - there’s nothing worse than a week in a miserable, wet tent!

Posts will dry up for a week, but I’ll summarise what went on at the event when I get back.

Wedding Crashers  1

Wedding Crashers Film with Owen Wilson

I went to see Wedding Crashers yesterday with a few friends, and was surprised at how funny I found it. I’m a big fan of Owen Wilson (I thought he was fantastic in Starsky and Hutch), so I was looking forward to the film.

Although it is a ‘girly’ film in some respects, it does have some incredibly funny moments. It centres around two guys who “crash” weddings. They go along, posing as being connected to the family in some way to try to sleep with women. As you can imagine, this works absolutely fine until one of them actually falls for someone. Then the plot thickens and you can imagine how it goes from there.

The quality of the acting in the film is surprisingly good, and some of the humour was spot on. I’ll definitely be buying the DVD when it’s released.

Design Shack  3

Post Categories   Post Time 3 years ago

I’ve decided to post about this here, as I find that a project can be a much bigger success if it has received input from plenty of people. I’m working on a new site (designshack.co.uk - don’t try, it’s password protected) which will be a design community, and a resource of CSS and inspiring designs. I know there are a few sites around already which do this, and do it very well. I want to offer something different and unique.

What would you like to see in a CSS resource site? And if anyone’s interested in doing some beta testing, let me know. It’s always great to get feedback as the project moves along.

Look forward to your input.

Future of Keyboards?  13

Post Categories   Post Time 3 years ago

Is this keyboard LED the future?

Keyboards have been a pretty long standing requirement of a computer, and they have (albeit with the removal of a wire) remained pretty much the same since their conception. Sure, you can buy ergonomic ones, colourful ones and tiny ones - it’s still essentially the same thing. This new Optimus wireless keyboard takes the keyboard conept to a new level.

It uses keys which, rather than having the text/numbers printed on them, are programmed to display a certain character or picture. The possibilities are much wider with a device such as this, over a standard keyboard. Never again would you have to worry whether that keyboard would work in the UK/US, whether it has the Apple keys on it, whether it has some music shortcut keys. One click of a button, and every key could change language, colour or function.

This, in my opinion, is potentially the best advance in keyboard technology since the dawn of the keyboard itself. It would really change the way we work, and could be a huge phenomenon. I know I’d certainly buy one - especially if it was created by Logitech…. ah, stuck in my ways. What do you reckon? Would you buy one?
