Handling the Inevitable

Post Categories   Post Time 7/7/2005

It’s something that the country has been expecting, more or less since September 11th. I’m amazed at how well it has been dealt with, and how calm people have remained. Something like this shocks you, but I can’t let it stop me doing what I normally would. If that happens, then we’ve lost the battle. I’m worried that this is really only a warning - it’s nothing on the scale of what happened in the USA, and I can’t help but think that there could be worse to come.

I hope that isn’t the case, and I hope with all my heart that this won’t affect the discussions at the G8 summit. That could lead to changes in millions of lives - something much, much bigger than anything that a terrorist group could ever threaten.

I was actually very surprised to see how calm london was after it. Well, I guess there was that standard semi-panic, but in America, when the Twin Towers came down, the whole country was in a panic for a week or so until things finally started settling down.

I guess that may have had to do with the fact that the death toll in America was ~3000-5000 and in London it was something like 37? but still, I did not expect to see london so calm.

Glad to hear that you are ok though.

I’m actually very proud of how steadfast the British people have been. I wanted to stand up and applaud this morning when they approached the day after as if nothing had happened. Failure for the terrorists!
