Shortstat Mint Nearly Here

Mike Davidson has just posted an article summarising what he finds to be the best features of Shaun Inman’s new statistics program to replace ShortStat - Mint.

He talks about how he likes the ability to show a recent ’snapshot’ of where hits to your site are coming from, and reveals that the statistics script automatically validates every hit to your website using Javascript, eliminating referrer spam. Basically, if the hit to your website isn’t coming from a real browser, it doesn’t get logged. Period.

Register your email address on the Mint website to be notified when it’s released, supposedly sometime in the coming week.

Browser Feature

Jess Croft, another Mint beta tester, has also posted an article about his favourite feature of Mint, namely the ability to add and remove modules (called ‘Peppers’). One of these is a particularly useful utility to show the various details about a user - all without reloading the page.
